20 THINGS ABOUT NSA

Some brief snippets of information explaining what Napier Students' Association is...

01. Yours - it's made up of all Napier students, part time and full time, undergraduates and postgraduates. Napier students are all automatically members of their university's students' association.

02. A Registered Charity - NSA exists to promote the well-being of Napier students.

03. Not for profit - everything we do is either free to students or is designed for a student budget. Any money we make doesn't go to share-holders, but into making our services and standards better for our students.

Exec

04. Student led - NSA's Governing Body/Board of Trustees is made up of elected students, including 3 who are paid and work full-time for the year - for 2007/08 that's Aran, Dave and Gary. (pictured right)

05. Here for You – From freshers week right through to graduation, for the good times and the not so good, NSA is here for Napier students.

06. Democratic – NSA’s leaders are students, elected by the students to represent students.

07. Representative – Our student leaders are here to listen to the students and represent their best interests in negotiations with university management, academic staff and service providers.

08. Provider of Freshers Week – which includes the legendary pub crawl and the freshers’ ball, among other things, like day-time 10-pin bowling and other evening events. It’s a great social introduction to student life and a chance for freshers to meet some of the students they’ll be spending a lot of the next 4 years with. People look back on freshers’ week as a special time.

Fair

09. Organiser of Freshers Fair – Our fair is the largest university single-day fair event in Scotland and it gives you a chance to see what’s out there – from societies, sports clubs, the student newspaper, ISAS and NSA things, to banks, social things and lots of other stuff. There’s lots of information and freebees to pick up as well as cool stuff to buy.

10. Publisher of the Freshers Handbook and the Survival Guide – The Handbook is a quick intro to Napier, the city and student life, and is designed to help you navigate your first few weeks here. The Survival Guide is a more detailed and longer term reference book put together by our professional advice staff to help you whenever you hit difficulties. If it can’t answer your question, it should at least suggest to you where you could go for help.
