Manifesto
My name is Abdullah, and I’m a second-year Computer Science student at Edinburgh Napier University. Sport especially badminton has been a core part of my life since high school, helping me build teamwork, resilience, and confidence. I play regularly outside of uni and have seen firsthand how physical activity can bring people together and boost wellbeing.
If elected as Co-President Sport & Wellbeing, I will work to make sport and wellbeing more inclusive, supportive, and accessible for every student at Napier. I want sport to be something that everyone feels welcome to try, whether you’re aiming to compete at a high level, build friendships, or simply move more for fun and your mental health. ENSA already supports over 60 sports clubs and offers opportunities for students at all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes and I want to build on that.
I will listen to club leaders and members to understand the challenges clubs face from funding and facilities to recruitment and wellbeing support and work collaboratively to find practical solutions. I’ll ensure clubs have clear communication channels with the Students’ Union and university staff, so resources and support are easier to access. I’ll promote beginner-friendly opportunities and encourage clubs to host inclusive taster sessions and social events that welcome new members.
Beyond sport, I’ll champion initiatives that connect physical activity with mental wellbeing, recognising that both are deeply linked to a positive student experience. My goal is to help build a culture where looking after yourself and each other is normal, and where sport plays a meaningful role in strengthening community, confidence, and wellbeing across Napier.
I’d be honoured to represent you and help make our sports environment more welcoming, vibrant, and wellbeing-focused.

+If elected, what would you do to address the issues faced by students around wellbeing?
If elected as Co-President for Sports and Wellbeing, I’d make sure everyone feels supported, included, and genuinely looked after whether that’s through sport, social activity, or just everyday wellbeing. I want to break down the barriers that stop people from getting involved, whether that’s cost, confidence, or time, and make it easier for students to find something that helps them feel good physically and mentally. I’d work to bring sports clubs and wellbeing services closer together so we can build a culture where checking in with each other and asking for support feels normal, not awkward. My goal is simple: make our community stronger, kinder, and healthier for everyone.
+If elected, how would you work with student sports clubs?
If elected, I’d work with student sports clubs by being present, listening to what *you* actually need, and being someone you can talk to openly. I’d meet with club leaders regularly to understand what’s going well and what’s holding you back, whether that’s funding, facilities, or support for members’ wellbeing. I’d make sure you have a clear connection to the Students’ Union and wellbeing services so accessing help and resources feels easy, not frustrating. And most importantly, I’d champion your voices celebrating your wins, supporting you through challenges, and working with you to make sport a space where everyone feels included, supported, and part of something positive.
