NSA Elections - Martin Couper

As a journalist, I understand the importance of communication. That is why if I am elected I aim to improve the correspondence between not only the Executive and The Student Senate; but also between The Senate and those it represents…you guys, the students.

The current NSA Executive have done a great job in re-opening our Student Union Bar and have done their best to promote it to the student body. However numbers are still pretty poor. If elected I would make it my priority to make the bar synonymous with Napier life. I hope to achieve this through a continued effort of promotion and hopefully heavier investment.

No matter what campus you attend at Napier one issue seems to be present all the time…apathy. Either people do not care about university business, or feel disillusioned as to what they can do to make an impact. Breaking this train of thought is the backbone of my campaign. I want our students to be proud to say they come from Napier. I aim to achieve this through greater promotion of our societies and sports clubs. If more students were active participators or followers of these societies then students will feel more involved in Napier activities and therefore feel a greater sense of pride and respect for a university they all CHOSE to come to.

Finally, I plan to consult the administration over possible changes to module content. For too long I have noticed modules in our courses that either do not seem relevant to our degree, or worse, seem to undermine its quality. I believe this will again improve student morale and university pride if we feel we are working towards something really great.

But my plans cannot be realised without your help. So please, vote me for NSA President.
