Child Benefit and HB/CTB

Do you have children? Have you been receiving housing benefit or council tax benefit? The HB/CTB income rules now exclude Child Benefit from any calculation. This means you could be a wee bit better off. Council departments should be reviewing everyone’s entitlement as a matter of course from 2/11/09...
Discretionary Housing Payments

Do you receive full HB/CTB or is there a shortfall? Are you being threatened with legal action due to arrears of mortgage? Make an appointment to talk to ISAS advisers about whether to apply for a discretionary housing payment to help in these situations. The rules are tricky so get advice first - call 0131 229 8791.

A number of students have put down deposits with “landlords” advertising on websites, only to arrive in town to discover that the property has not been up for rent and the landlord – and their deposit – is nowhere to be found...
