The Celts settled throughout Europe from 800BC to 900 AD and their civilisation was founded on a belief in the living land and its relationship to their own clan or tribe. They were early environmentalists, aware that every feature of the landscape had independent life and should be respected as sacred.
This is the second year of the Celtic Cultural Society. It was founded in February 2006 by Kathryn Hershel and Sinead Kelly.

The Celtic Society have been on many exciting adventures, including our trip to the seven sacred wells in Edinburgh, and our trip to the Islands of Mull and Iona last may, where we were captivated by the essence of lands untouched by time. We had a story teller on this trip who gave us an insight into some of the ways our ancestors worked and lived.
2006/07 began with a trip to Rosslyn Chapel, followed soon after by a magical visit to Loch Tay and Aberfieldy, where we visited some of Scotland’s oldest stone circles, the Crannogs and the Great Yew Tree which is over 5000 years old. Our next trip will be to Tynninghame Beach, where we will delight in the lunar eclipse led by Beltane Fire Society whom we have close connections with. A night of Fire Poi and dance will be held until the late hours after dawn.
We look forward to hearing from any potential members, and you can keep up to date with any upcoming events by visiting our yahoo group.
