Club History:
Napier University Gaelic Football club was founded in September 2004 by a group of Irish students wanted to play football while studying in Edinburgh. We have been successful from our inception to the present day. In our first year we won both the Scottish Championship and league while reaching the semi finals of the British Championships. We repeated the same feat last year in Scotland and at the British Championships. In this short space of time we have become the most successful team at the University. We consist of players from all over Ireland and have had the odd Scot and Frenchman join the ranks.

Training
We train twice a week at the Meadows. Days and times vary at the managements discression to accommodate exams, coursework etc.
Competitions:
We start competitive competition at the start of October by competing in the Scottish League. Winning this league is important as the top four teams are entered into the British Championships.
The British Championships take place every February. Traditionally they have been played in Birmingham but this has changed for 2007 and is thus taking place in London. The games start on a Friday with the group stages. There are four groups with four teams in each group. The top two teams from each group progress to the quarter final which takes place on the Saturday morning. The semi finals are played on Saturday afternoon with the Final played on Sunday afternoon.
There is also a shield and a plate competition for the lower placed teams of each region. We have never made the final on a Sunday but have been known to drown our sorrows spectacularly on the Saturday night.
The winners of the British Championships go forward to play in the Trench cup in Ireland in March against Irish opposition.
The Scottish Championships are held in March and April and we are keen to retain the title for a third year in a row.
Management:
Our management consists of four graduates and past players of Napier University. They are Danny Morriesy, Kieren Kennelly, Cormac o’Gara and Liam Sammon.
Social Scene:
Our members are no strangers to the bars of Edinburgh and have been known to go on the bender for 2/3 days and are a great catch for girls in the Penny Black.
Sponsors:
We are sponsored by Biddy Mulligans in the grassmarket and can be found in there after games or pleading at the door to get back in.
Training:
Twice a week at The Meadows.
