Rugby League - Napier’s most decorated sports club, has boomed in the last 5 years since its conception, with players representing Scotland at regional, student, amateur and professional levels. “The Knights“ - BUSA North League Champions 07/08 - have never lost a home league fixture in their three years at the top, a record unheard of in university sport north of the border.

Despite being the only club in Scotland, Napier has developed into one of the best Student Rugby League teams in the UK, having secured promotion this year to Premier North and potentially to the elite flagship and pinnacle of Student Rugby League, The Super 6, which is covered on Sky Sports’ “Boots n’ All” and includes games all over the country, including the Capital City Challenge in both Edinburgh and in London versus St. Mary‘s University.

The Knights are hoping to get a Fresher’s XIII out this year to aid with the development of the club and maintain a recruitment pathway to the national teams. We even offer a social membership option for those non-players and operate a Wives and Girlfriends (WAGS) section “The Maidens” to keep them happy and above all involved. Rugby League really is an open invitation to anyone and everyone!

The club is only 5 years old, and many of the current internationalists had never played the sport before coming to Napier, meaning that potentially anyone has the chance to pull on a Scotland jersey. Knighthood has its benefits which include: discounted gym membership, nutrition and weight training consultations from Sports Science specialists and professionals in the Rugby League world.

Let’s forget the Rugby for the minute: Napier knows when her Knights have succeeded, as many locals, and their maidens, will testify to.
