You can do the Award at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. You can start at Bronze and work up through Silver and Gold, or go directly into Silver or Gold - what we call a Direct Entrant.
Each Award is comprised of four sections (five for Gold).
Volunteering - Give your time and skills to your local community, people in need, or a national campaign. Volunteering must be undertaken in a not-for-profit organisation or charity, and must be done for at least one hour per week.
Physical - Join a sports club, train for a marathon, swim, jog or cycle your way to fitness! You must do your physical activity for at least one hour per week.
Skills - Always wanted to play guitar or learn a language? Passionate about conservation? Interested in photography? The skills section covers such range of activity there's sure to be something you enjoy. You must do your skill for at least one hour per week.
Expedition - You will plan and carry out an outdoor expedition with a small group of other participants and led by our Expedition Supervisor. The expedition is a fantastic personal challenge that will really test you.
Residential (Gold only) - Snowboarding camp? Volunteering at a Scout jamboree? Learning survival skills in a bushcraft residential? Going on a sailing trip around the UK? The Residential is 5 days and 4 nights doing a shared activity with a group of strangers away from home.

Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
