Grants are available to charities within the UK running sports projects which provide opportunities for people who are disabled or otherwise disadvantaged to fulfil their potential and develop personal and life skills.

Objectives of Fund

The aim of the scheme is to support sporting activity or projects which provide opportunities for people who are disabled or otherwise disadvantaged to fulfil their potential and to develop other personal and life skills.

 

Value Notes

There is no minimum or maximum level of grant available. Each grant request will be reviewed on its own merits.

Applicants may only apply to one of the Foundation's programmes at any time.

 

Match Funding Restrictions

Match funding is not a specified requirement.

 

Who Can Apply

Registered charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC) in the UK are eligible to apply.

Local branches of national charities may apply, but they must have a separate legal constitution or the endorsement of their national Head Office.

 

Restrictions

The Foundation will not support the following:

  • Requests for retrospective funding.
  • Activities that are primarily the responsibility of central or local government.
  • Individuals.
  • Overseas projects.
  • Adventure Challenges or expeditions in the UK or abroad.
  • Projects that are solely for the promotion of religion.

Charities awarded a grant by the Foundation may not make another application for three years, from the date of the final grant payment.

Charities whose applications are not successful may make another application after one year, from the date of the previous rejection.

 

Eligible Expenditure

Grants are usually made for capital projects. Consideration will be given for revenue funding for a new project or if funding is key to the continuing success or survival of an established project.

The Trustees welcome applications for the following types of project:

  • Projects which provide a focus for skills development and confidence building through the medium of sport.
  • Projects that have a strong training and/or educational theme within the sporting activity.
  • Projects that provide sporting equipment or facilities for disabled or disadvantaged people.
  • Projects with a high degree of community involvement.
  • Projects that help to engage children or young people at risk of crime, truancy or addiction.

Applications may be submitted at any time.

Applications are made through a two-stage process. Interested organisations should in the first instance submit an initial enquiry online. Only selected entries will then be invited to complete a full application.
