ENSA Student Leadership Team Statement on the Proposed Strike Action by UNISON, UCU, EIS, UNITE

Students will be aware that industrial action (or strike action) is due to be carried out by those unions representing Edinburgh Napier University staff: Unison, Unite, EIS and UCU. The unions intend to strike on the following dates:

Strike

  • Unite the Union: 23 / 24 / 25 / 30 November 
  • UCU: 24 / 25 / 30 November 
  • EIS: 24 / 25 November 
  • UNISON: 24 / 25 November

As a students’ association representing some 20,000 students at Edinburgh Napier University, we are aware of the implications of this strike action for the student experience. We want to assure all our student members of our continued engagement with the university management to encourage them to reach an amicable solution with the university unions to minimize any disruption on the student body.

We would like to state our solidarity with union members taking industrial action. We support their right to strike in their fight for fair pay and conditions and improved welfare and wellbeing. We give them our moral support and believe that staff satisfaction will ultimately result in a better student experience.
