Edinburgh Napier University Netball team are seeking to appoint an ambitious qualified Netball coach who is eager to develop their coaching to lead their BUCS Team throughout the 2015-16 academic year.

The successful applicant will be required to plan and develop well-organised sessions to suit the needs of the team and individuals within the team. Excellent communication skills when delivering sessions are crucial to this role.

In addition to leading regular coaching session, it is desired that the coach will attend all Wednesday afternoon BUCS matches.

Applicants should be level 1 qualified or above for this term time position. The role is self-employed and will be paid weekly or monthly at a competitive rate.

Club Background

Napier Netball had a very successful season in 2014-15. They had 37 female members affiliated to the club. After an unbeaten BUCS league season, they were promoted to Scottish division 3. They were awarded Team Napier Club of the Year by the NSA.

The club now is at a very exciting stage and are looking to expand as well as further increase the level of performance. The main aims of this season are for the club to employ a coach to focus on our BUCS team development and expand our training time for the whole club.

Essential

  • Minimum UKCC Level 1 qualified
  • Attend all/majority of training sessions and matches (1 evening per week – usually Wednesday training, Saturday matches)
  • Experience of leading and developing teams
  • It is hoped the successful candidate will be available to begin pre-season training week commencing 14th September

Desirable

  • Experience of student sport
  • Previous PVG or Disclosure Scotland accreditation
  • Valid First Aid qualification

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Planning and Delivery of a technical training session to a group of players on a weekly basis.
  • Match-day preparation and tactics (Saturday BUCS Games)
  • Regular evaluation and report of Team Performance
  • Regular evaluation and report of individual performance
  • Regular communication with captain/sports development co-ordinator
  • Clear development and progress with each session

Recreational Coach Vacancy

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivery of a technical training session to a group of players at differing levels of ability on a weekly basis.
  • Regular communication with captain/sports development co-ordinator
  • To facilitate club development and progress with each session

Requirements for role:

  • Availability for 1 Wednesday evening session a week during term time. (September-December and January-March)
  • Availability for some recreational matches during term time (September-December and January-March). These are varying days and times which can be organised to suit both players and coaches.
  • Minimum of UKCC Level 1 Netball coach qualification, desirable not necessary.
  • Coaching kit and equipment will be supplied.
