Event Description

Overview

Join us for a free, guided, cycling tour around the outskirts of the city on Friday 30 October! Cycling is an eco-friendly way to travel around the city that also has the benefit of being great for your own physical and mental health. If Global Climate Change Week has inspired you to reduce your carbon footprint, get on your bike!

Bridge 8 are offering students this fantastic chance to explore some of the city’s cycle routes, with bike, helmet and cycle jackets also free for hire for those who don’t already have their own! A good opportunity to try out a new speciality bike, like a mountain bike with shock absorbers. Whether you are a keen cyclist or more of an occasional weekend rider, you’re welcome to join.

The Tour will last approximately 1 hour, starting from Bridge 8 at 11am sharp and returning for around midday.

Hot drinks and snacks will be available from the Bridge 8 Paddle café from 10am. Attendees should arrive by no later than 10:30am to allow time for bike and helmet fitting, plus a safety briefing.

Anyone who is feeling unwell or not confident in their cycling ability should not join the tour.

The session will be fully compliant with Cycling UK Guidelines on group rides, and operating in full accordance with current government Covid-19 guidance. Nobody should attend if they or anyone in their “household” is symptomatic or self-isolating. All participants are also asked to practice safe hand and respiratory hygiene throughout. Social distancing measures are enforced whilst at Bridge 8 and all bikes and helmets are cleaned prior to and after each ride.
