Manifesto

Creating a Home Away from Home with Idowu

My name is Idowu Ogunjobi, and I am running to be your next President of Societies & Community because I believe no student should feel like a stranger at Edinburgh Napier. I have always enjoyed bringing people together, and I want to use that passion to make sure every one of our 20,000 students feels like they truly belong.

My Priorities for You:

A United Campus Community: With three separate campuses, it’s easy to feel isolated. I will organize more cross-campus mixers and events to connect Sighthill, Merchiston, and Craiglockhart.

Empowering Societies: Societies are where friendships are born. I will streamline the process for starting new societies and advocate for increased funding to support the growth and development of existing ones.

Support for International Students: Moving to a new country is a massive leap. I will build on the International Guarantor Scheme and host regular "Global Horizons" events to celebrate our incredible diversity.

Fair Housing Advocacy: Edinburgh’s housing market is a challenge. I will work with national organizations, such as the NUS, to advocate for fairer rents and better-quality housing for all students.

Why Vote for Me? I am a listener first and an advocate second. I don’t just want to be a "leader"; I want to be a visible, approachable friend you can talk to on campus.

Let’s build a community that is inclusive, fair, and fun.

Vote Idowu Ogunjobi for President (Societies & Community) – Together, we belong.

Note: all manifestos are posted as provided and cut off if they exceeded the set limit (300 words).

+If elected, what would you do to address the issues faced by students around housing?

+If elected, how would you work with student societies?

I will be a visible and approachable friend to societies by simplifying their paperwork, helping them plan better events, and hosting regular drop-in sessions at all three campuses to solve their problems in person.
