Manifesto

Hey, I’m Laura and I’ve been a student at Napier since 2023. I'm finishing up my last year of mass communications, advertising and PR. How exciting! I’ve been involved in Edinburgh Napier’s surf club since my first year going from health and wellbeing officer to vice president. I’ve absolutely adored seeing and being part of the behind the scenes and want to continue making people happy and improving the connections between people. Making life on and off a campus fun and safe as well as somewhere where people can feel comfortable being themselves.

Key Challenges I have noticed:

  • Certain clubs are not economically viable for a large proportion of students
  • Communications between ENSA and clubs can be messy
  • Community building amongst people and clubs is not always prioritised
  • Freshers events can be daunting and are not set up in the way for people to make real connections

This year my focus will be on making clubs more financially viable to everyone, fixing communication mishaps between ENSA and committee members as well as fostering community building activities and events.

My Key Aims for this Year:

  • Finding new investors and partnerships to help lower club membership prices
  • Setting up an effective way for committee members and ENSA to communicate
  • Creating ideas and events to aid clubs in improving their community mindset
  • Finding a way for freshers events to be less daunting and easier to approach
  • Promoting mental health and wellbeing through events and student led campaigns
  • Pushing for clubs to work together, bringing the students of Napier together

Note: all manifestos are posted as provided and cut off if they exceeded the set limit (300 words).

+If elected, what would you do to address the issues faced by students around wellbeing?

I would organise student led campaigns to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing, sharing stories of different people and giving advice on how best do deal with problems the student population may be facing. I would also attempt to run workshops or drop in sessions to allow people to do creative activities etc... or simply talk to people who can help shed light around wellbeing at university.

+If elected, how would you work with student sports clubs?

I would create events and competitions for clubs to meet up and get to know one another, talk to committee members to see if they have any changes or ideas they would like to bring up, as well as prioritising community building.
