Special University funds available for students

moneyworries

The University is concerned about significant financial issues the Covid-19 virus will place upon a number of students. Many will experience a loss in part time income due to workplaces being closed. Additionally, EU and International students are very unrepresented in terms of funding available for help with living costs. Unfortunately these are also the students who are likely to be affected most by the restrictions being placed on workplaces and consequential drop in earned income.

As a result the University repurposed whatever funding it can to support the following funds, which are now open for applications:

  • Discretionary Fund (click for info)
Available to fulltime students from the UK who are concerned about not having enough funds available for their living costs. Students can also apply for this fund if they satisfy the SAAS residence conditions to be treated in the same way as a UK student for student funding purposes. The only courses not eligible for this are nursing and midwifery (see below).

  • Nursing & Midwifery Discretionary Fund (click for info)
Available to pre-registration nursing and midwifery students from the UK who are concerned about not having enough funds available for their living costs. Again, qualifying students can also apply for this fund if they satisfy the SAAS residence conditions to be treated in the same way as a UK student for student funding purposes.

  • The International & EU Student Crisis Fund (click for info)
Available to International & EU students who are concerned about not having enough funds available for their living costs.

Clicking on these links will take you to MyNapier, where you can view eligibility criteria and download the application form and guidance notes.

Any students who are concerned about how the Covid-19 pandemic will affect their day to day finances are strongly encouraged to submit an application to any funds they are eligible for.

Please note that funds are limited and, due to volume of applications, may take a little longer than usual to process.
