Manifesto
How a Vote for Aslan is a Vote for a Sportier Napier
Despite my degree not being related to Sports and well-being, I have dedicated a large amount of my time outside of my studies to health. It has become another passion, and it has helped me better myself, and if elected, I’ll look to encourage more students to do the same.
I’ve represented student voices before, as I have been serving this University for the past year as a Representative, and I want to do more for the entire University regarding their health.
Electing me will bring a candidate with many ambitions for the position; my main ones are:
- Pushing for more participation and affordability within sports societies.
This is important as, despite the overall cheap prices, a price tag on sports opportunities can be intimidating to students, especially those struggling with finances. And I believe we should do our best not to restrict less financially blessed students from sports participation.
- Help students struggling to get into sports, finally make that start.
For many, beginning a healthier journey may be a hard step to take. I will encourage students to speak with me about this, and I will support them in getting started through methods like helping them create their own plan. If this program is successful among female students, I will also look to create a volunteer position for a female student to support other female students.
- Set up sports related activites and events around campuses.
Who said sports have to be boring? I’ll further encourage sports participation by organizing sports events and challenges around campuses with fun prizes. This can also push a more positive view of the university, as the earnings from these events can be donated to charities.
Note: all manifestos are posted as provided and cut off if they exceeded the set limit (300 words).
+If elected, what would you do to address the issues faced by students around wellbeing?
I'd encourage all students to up their sports participation. I have applied that to my life and it has only served positives for my wellbeing.
+If elected, how would you work with student sports clubs?
I'd contact every single sports club at Napier and set up consistent meetings with them in order to discuss a variety of issues.
