Edinburgh Student Film Festival
With Graduations, Halloween and Bonfire Night out of the way it's, well, beginning to look a lot like Christmas! But first we are in the middle of the Edinburgh Student Film Festival this week so it is all hands on deck for that event. Tonight is Napier Night - all events can be seen here
One of the films. The Years of Qiongya Column by Chen Taowei, dealt with the horrors of war and the conditions of survivors of that conflict. With sabbaticals attending the Remembrance event this Sunday it was very a very timely showing and interesting discussion.
Varsity
This week our planning meeting covered Varsity, the day long sporting event between Edinburgh Napier and QMU. It's the tenth year and save the date - Wednesday 18th March. Next week we are talking Uniforce, the challenge between five unis. More news when we have it.
Advice Blog
There is a new behind the scenes Advice blog from staff member Moray Pryde on the website. Read about what the team have been up to here
Movember
Movember is in full swing. You have currently raised £3285 or the £5000 target. Can we exceed the almost £10,000 we raised last year. Keep growing that moustache, moving that body and pledging your support here - do join in if you can.
Behind the scenes
We have been reviewing all our costs and systems, saving money on the likes of insurance and death in service payments, so we can invest more into student activities and experience. We've been updating staff handbook policies and about to update our health and safety policies too. We have been recruiting new students interns, on the hunt for new volunteers and reviewing our equality, diversity and inclusion, looking at our on boarding and progressing an update of our charitable policies. On top of all that we have been doing our financial update as we move our aduit to earlier in the year and signing off on our report of last years activities around that. It's all very process driven and not much of a plot with a satisfying end, so don't expect a film about it at the Film Festival. But you never know...
