Edinburgh Napier students smash fundraising target for men's health charity, Movember
Edinburgh Napier University students have raised over £14,000 for men’s mental health charities as part of our Movember challenge. This smashed the target of £5000 that was set by our Co-President for Sport and Wellbeing, Austen Brunton, who said:
“We’re extremely proud of all the clubs that came together to push forward such an important cause. Some incredible funds and awareness have been raised, well done to everyone involved! You are making a difference.”
Throughout November, teams and individuals were growing moustaches and hosting activities to raise awareness of issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health. The Movember charity has funded over 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, transforming the way health services reach and support men.
Leading the way in the fundraising efforts were our Men’s Rugby Club, who once again went above and beyond in their efforts for the cause. Their Club President, Clayton Hossack, stated:
“We take Movember very seriously here at the club, always striving to raise as much money as possible. We always aim to push the boundaries when it comes to fundraising, and this year we have managed to raise over £8000, which is a Napier record, and we are incredibly proud of everyone who took part.”
11 teams and 94 individual students participated and contributed to the Edinburgh Napier total. BA(Hons) Marketing with Digital Media student, Dylan Ozuna Salas, was the top individual fundraiser, managing to raise an incredible £700. Men’s Hockey and Men’s Football also raised over £2000 each, which is a fantastic effort.
The full list of Edinburgh Napier participants is available on the Edinburgh Napier MoSpace. (Please note that some of the raised funds have still to be cleared and added to this page.)
Many thanks to everyone who took part in the campaign, whether you were raising money, donating, or just helping to raise awareness. Your support was much appreciated!
