Anthony Foster WELCOME WEEK
From September, we bring you Welcome Week. Why is it not called Freshers Week? Because we have three new intakes of students, including January and June, so the name change reflects those who join us at these key times of the year. It is also for ALL our students, not just the new arrivals!
Whatever we call it, there are lots of events to introduce you to the city and partner venues, make friends for life and have a good time. Be sure to check out our Welcome Fair where you can meet all our sports clubs and societies, and scoop loads of freebies!

We are aware some students are confused by communications coming from external companies – rule of thumb if it is not mentioned here or as part of our events link it is not an official event and should be avoided. That is the same principle for any University and Students’ Association across Edinburgh.
SETTLE WEEK
No pressure. Despite all the excitement of the first week things may not go as planned. It happens, we know. It can take up to 16 weeks to get comfortable with your new surroundings and we’ve planned for that too.
There will be sessions on health and wellbeing, financial management, housing and taster sessions for societies and sports clubs. More details coming soon.
COMMUNICATIONS
Keep checking out the ENSA website, the socials (Instagram is popular) and we will be sharing all the events worth going to, the sports fixtures to attend, the venues to try out (including our City Bar partner Three Sisters and Cabaret Voltaire) and partner Union Edinburgh University Students’ Association.
More than that, we want volunteers to provide video and picture content from each event and we will share it. You may even become a paid intern for events, communication and sports and societies, giving you real life work experience alongside your studies which may help you find a job in the future.
There is the opportunity to help out at all levels and be an active participant in the student experience. Keep checking out the website for more info, pop into see us, fill out our skills audit – or wait for the Sabbaticals to come and visit you in your accommodation and ask them how to get involved too.
EVENTS THROUGH THE YEAR
Check out our event listings - there is something for everyone. Throughout the year there will also be Career and Housing Fairs, Student Film Festival, Halloween Party, St Andrews Party, Movember, International Event, Feel Fab Feb, Sports Events, Elections, Varsity, Clubs and Societies Awards, Excellence Awards and so much more.
There are also University events to help you settle, support your future career and listen to some fabulous guest speakers. We’ve been working with departments at the University along with Sports Clubs and Societies to add their events to our Events portal too, so you have one place to go online rather than navigate hundreds of messages, leaflets and posters.
