STUDENT ELECTIONS
The Student Elections are now underway. 21 candidates came forward, 17 were eligible, one has dropped out so you have sixteen people to choose from. Congratulations to everyone who came forward. Their details are here We hope students take time to hear what the students who want to represent you to the University and externally have to say, that the candidates enjoy the experience and that you vote for the best team to represent your interests on campus.
GLOBAL HORIZONS
I hope everyone involved with Global Horizons on Wednesday had a good time - the video I've seen certainly looked like it! I'm afraid I couldnt be there this year as we have been talking about ENSA to deaprtments in the University and had our regular ENSA catch up with the University. Sometimes there just isn't enough hours in the day.
BOTTOM UP NOT TOP DOWN
I was looking at some of the figures as we submit our budget for next year to the University and was looking over some of our KPIs. We have been encouraging Clubs and Societies to run their events and this year, through Native our online events platform, events have increased by 105%. Clubs and Societies have raised for themselves and charities a staggering £80,000 in ticket sales this year through events so far. Thats an increase from £66,000 for the whole of last academic year. This year we have seen an increase in Sports and Societies participation by 3.6%, and a 16% increase in sport participation with a 49% win rate, lifting sports at Napier in the BUCS rankings. Over the next two years, pending any budget decisions, we hope to support that work even more. It's going in the right direction at least.
OTHER FIGURES
Just for fun let's share some more data with you. Our Pulse Survey went up 0.23% this year with you giving us 7.41 out of 10 satisfaction rating. Our target is 8% so we are close.
The NSS survey, which fourth year students are completeting at the moment, gave the Students Union question a rating of 74.1% last year. That was up 3.5% from the previous year. We'd love to stay above 70% and increase it if we can.
The number of programme reps in up 2.38% this year, Student Council up 1.83%. Our target is 1% growth each year. The Student Council has a full agenda this week talking about the Strikes, AI and the Elections.
Last years voter turn out was 17.2% (up from 13.4% the previous year). We hope to increase that by 1% each year with 20% turnout by 2030. I think we could get to 25% but it does depend on how many candidates stand. With16 candidates this year, compared to 9 last year, we would expect more (but we also had the NUS Referendum at the same time last year). Use your vote!
BOARD MEETING NEXT WEEK
Next week we are going to be finalising our Mission, Vision, Values chat, a staff stategy away day and a ENSA Board Meeting so it is quite a full week. More on that next Friday!
