The Edinburgh Napier Debate Society is a new society that was established last year, aiming to bring together students from all subject areas to debate interesting and engaging topics.
We host weekly debating sessions where members can debate one another on topics they have chosen. Our weekly debates are followed up by socials for all attendees, in which our members can discuss the debate as well as get to know each other better.
Our society runs regular social events where you can meet other students and have a good time. We also want to hold Sunday Sitdowns where our members will meet at cafés to be able to further socialise in a non-debate context. There will also be a Christmas Ceilidh and an end-of-year Debate Ball that you do not want to miss out on!
We intend to have debating competitions between societies and other universities, where members can represent the university and society. For this purpose, we will also set up a cohort of eager debaters ready to challenge themselves intellectually.
Our society is available to people of all levels of experience. Even if you do not wish to speak in our debates, there's no pressure; you can still watch interesting discussions or help your team with valuable research and insight!
