Plant-Based Universities (PBU) Napier is a student-led campaign and community at Edinburgh Napier University calling for a transition to 100% plant-based catering in line with the university’s own climate and sustainability research. We believe that transformative change is urgently needed to address the climate and ecological crisis, and universities must take the lead in building sustainable food systems.
Through education, activism, and collaboration, we empower students to connect, learn, and act together. We plan to hold events, workshops, meetings and outreach stalls regularly to raise awareness of plant-based solutions, and to demonstrate that food can and should be sustainable, enjoyable, inclusive and affordable.
By joining PBU Napier, students become part of a growing international network of changemakers. Our mission is to build a sustainable and compassionate university community, and our vision is a future where plant-based food is the norm, students lead on climate action and wider social justice issues and embrace a culture of nonviolence. Together, we show that students have the power to push for systemic change and inspire institutions to align practice with research for a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable future.
