Towards 2035

Edinburgh Napier University is developing a new strategy to set a clear direction for the next decade. This new strategy will reflect changes in Higher Education and clarify the priorities of the University.

In April, staff were invited to have their say on Strategy 2035 in three Campus Conversations. These sessions allowed Napier staff to hear more about the emerging strategy and share their views directly. Alongside these, an anonymous online form was made available to gather further feedback, and discussions were also held with ENSA and student representatives. In total, over 1000 comments were captured that were then used to update the initial strategy.

Based on those comments, the outline strategy adopted more ambitious and active language throughout, and the focus on empowering students to thrive through education was strengthened. The strategy's ambitions were expanded to include quality of life, health and environmental sustainability alongside economic growth, and the role of AI and emerging technologies were explicitly acknowledged.

Following its endorsement by University Court in June, the strategy will now be taken to the next stage of refinement with input from staff, students and external stakeholders, before final approval in October.

How can you get involved?

The University will host a stall during Welcome Week where you can find out more and provide your comments on this important step for the future of Edinburgh Napier University.
