Students are warmly invited to the University's Remembrance gatherings on Wednesday 11 November, which will take place on all three campuses.
The gatherings will begin at 10.45am with poetry readings and personal reflections, followed by the traditional two-minute silence at 11am. There will be an opportunity to come together afterwards for tea, coffee, poppy cupcakes and conversation.
The Lindsay Stewart Lecture Theatre at Craiglockhart will also be illuminated in red until 12 November, joining landmarks across Scotland in a visible tribute to remembrance.
Whether you have a personal connection to the Armed Forces or simply wish to take a moment to reflect, everyone is welcome.

What is Remembrance Day?
On 11 November, people across the United Kingdom acknowledge Remembrance Day, or Armistice Day as it is also known. This day marks the day that World War One (WWI) ended in 1918. To remember those who died during WWI, and in any conflict since, there is a two-minute silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month each year. It is also a time to take a moment to think of families who live with the loss of their loved one every day and remember service personnel who have been wounded, physically and mentally, during any service-related activities.
Remembrance Day can be a difficult time for people and we wish to highlight that support is available from the University's Student Wellbeing team and Chaplaincy service. For those with a service background, Rock2Recovery provides support to those with PTSD.
