Sports Clubs

Would you like to learn self-defence in a fun and expressive way whilst hanging out with friends and meeting people from other universities and countries? Jiu Jitsu is an eastern martial art that shares similar roots with judo but with a larger focus on self-defence and keeping fit. While there are still competitions, our Jiu-Jitsu style offers a more relaxed and friendly environment.

It’s the ideal way to learn something new and stay in shape without having to lift any weights. With membership to our club, you gain the right to train at our sister clubs in the other Edinburgh universities; sessions occur every day. After every session, you’ll be able to socialize with friendly people with similar interests at the pub.  In addition, there are various other socials and events with students from your own and other universities, promoting self-growth physically and socially.

Term 1 training times and days include:

  • Wednesday: Everyone, Napier - Engage, 19:30-21:30
  • Sunday: Orange+, Edi Uni - St Leonards, 13:30-15:00; Everyone, Edi Uni - St Leonards, 15:00-17:30

To purchase a Sports Club Membership, you will also need to purchase an ENSA Sports Affiliation Fee. It costs just £20 and allows you to purchase as many Sports Club Memberships as you choose.

Memberships expire at the end of the current academic year (end of May).

We recommend contacting the clubs before buying your membership to check that they are still accepting new members - while many accept throughout the year, some squads may have limited places available.

You must first log in to be able to view and purchase memberships.
